Amy Simmons earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2005. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Missouri. Amy has spent nearly 20 years as a practicing social worker in the greater Kansas City community specializing in behavioral health, including both prevention and intervention, school social work and community organizing. Amy has served in the role of agency administrator and in 2006 was a member of the Kansas State Board that developed the Kansas Psychiatric Residential Treatment Standards (PRTF). In 2014, Amy wrote and secured a federal grant of $625,000 from the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) for Liberty Alliance for Youth. Currently, Amy serves as the program director and assistant professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
