Biography

With 15 years of experience as a middle school ELA teacher and literacy coach in New York City public schools, Gina brings a deep understanding of the opportunities and complexities of adolescent learning and ways to support teachers to tap into these complexities. Her research explores adolescent literacy and the lived experiences of life in classrooms, with a focus on creating learning environments where young people and teachers can thrive. As Director of Teacher Education at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, she is dedicated to partnering with schools and communities to prepare, support, and sustain teachers who serve Kansas City's children and adolescents.
