This program is tailored to current or future educators in both traditional and nontraditional — faith-based or nonprofit — teaching settings. Students in this program engage with advanced theories regarding curriculum theory and design, foundations of education, human development, research and assessment and culture and diversity.
Students specialize in one of several available emphasis areas: general, subject matter specialty or teaching English as a second language (TESOL). The TESOL emphasis has an option to earn add-on certification in English language learning (ELL).
The culminating experience for this program is the completion of an action research project and related research report.
Graduates of this program are teachers or educators in both traditional and nontraditional educational settings. Many take on roles as teacher-leaders, instructional coaches or mentors or supervisors to preservice teachers.
